It also calls for applicants from the Omani private sector to apply online at www.ceo.om. The NCP is a unique six module program designed to deliver a transformational learning experience for senior Omani private sector executives. This is a strategic initiative aimed at identifying and developing a community of world-class competitive Omani CEOs as to help maximise the performance of the private sector and the nation’s economy.

The National CEO Program provides a powerful learning experience built on three key methodologies: a taught six module 12 month program, delivering latest leadership thinking and research and including individual one-on-one and team leadership coaching; a powerful application process that focuses on developing strategic projects for the country; the creation of a cross-sector, cross-region community of senior private sector leaders.

Applications for the first cohort (30 participants from the private sector) will be open from March 17th to April 11th, 2015. The selection process for the program has been designed to be transparent, rigorous and fair. Potential candidates will apply and be assessed online prior to being invited for both a competency-based and a panel interview.

On this occasion, the Advisor to The Royal Court of Diwan H.E Dr. Ali Qassim Jawad commented “Oman's private sector is a catalyst for socio-economic growth in the Sultanate - it has limitless capacity and potential to play a lead role in commercial development. Equipping private sector leaders with latest thinking, skills and capabilities, will support the sector’s sustainable national, regional and international competitiveness and growth, we encourage private sector leaders to visit our online portal www.ceo.om and apply to participate in this unique learning journey.”

This transformational learning journey is built on strategic partnerships with IMD, one of the world’s premier international business schools, and McKinsey & Company, the leading global management consulting firm.

IMD will be leading the knowledge sessions. On this occasion Professor Michael Wade, Professor of Innovation and Strategic Information Management said, “At IMD, we are proud to be a part of the transformational journey to develop a cadre of inspiring global leaders within Oman. The participants in the program will learn about the latest thinking on traditional management topics such as market growth, finance, communications, and strategy. In addition, they will cover cutting edge topics like digital business transformation, board effectiveness, and managing in an environment of disruptive innovation. They will also develop a deep understanding of their leadership skills and embark on a journey to become more inspirational and effective leaders”.

The program is not only designed to improve the leadership capabilities of next-generation Omani CEOs through knowledge sessions. In addition, it includes a fundamental component of inter-modular project work. In small groups, participants will embark on developing ambitious projects designed to enhance Oman's status as a global leader, both now and in the future.

This Program will serve to shape a community of future Omani CEOs as part of the program; participants will be joining a very talented and diverse group of high performing individuals from different organisations throughout the Sultanate. Participants will build new relationships, develop new capabilities, experience innovative ways of thinking and executing ideas, and experiment with new approaches to leading industry, organizations and oneself.

About the Public-Private Partnership Committee (PPP)
As an extension of the patronage of H.M. the Sultan for the private sector, and in order to enable the sector to play its role as an active partner in the social and economic development of the Sultanate, the initiative was launched in April 2013, through the adoption of a committee that includes six ministers and six members from the private sector that are selected in rotation from among 30 representatives of the sector including business owners who have been chosen by a wider private sector group. The initiative is an inclusive effort structured in a manner that allows for the rotation of private sector members, thereby including a broad number of participants and views from the private sector.

The PPP has several notable objectives, including: Enhancing co-operation between the public and private sector, identifying opportunities for collaboration, supporting the employment and capability development of Omani Nationals, as well as working towards regional diversification and development.

The Committee efforts began by identifying four national priorities of partnership (economic diversification, job creation, regional development, building national capabilities), where these priorities constitute a general framework for proposed ideas, projects and initiatives, as well as challenges to be addressed in partnership with relevant government agencies. In addition, four working groups have been established to include a number of undersecretaries as representatives of key government stakeholders for each priority, and a number of businessmen and businesswomen as representatives to the partnership team from the private sector.

The National CEO Program is one of a number of national initiatives that have been agreed upon by representatives of the two sectors, aiming to enable the private sector through equipping it with world-class executives who are able to lead its future towards further progress and prosperity, and contributing to the overall national economy. A number of other key projects and initiatives are currently being studied.

About the National CEO Program
Under the patronage of the Diwan of Royal Court, the National CEO program is an initiative that was launched by the Public Private Partnership platform “Sharaka”. It is the first of its kind in the Sultanate and its goal is to develop the next generation of private sector Omani leaders and executives. It is a visible demonstration of the importance and value that the Sultanate assigns to the private sector’s role in the future performance of Oman’s economy and one which will deliver clear results.

The National CEO Program is designed to address the private sector’s emerging needs for talented business leaders and executives who are empowered to meet the challenges of the marketplace and embrace the opportunities that the Sultanate’s economy will offer. This exclusive program is founded on global best practice and the latest leadership thinking and learning methodologies.
