Mr Michael Rennie

Partner at McKinsey & Company

Mr Rennie is the global leader of McKinsey’s Organisation Practice with nearly 30 years of consulting experience. He previously led McKinsey in Australia and New Zealand. His primary focus is on working with top teams and company leadership to build high-performing organisations, including shaping compelling visions and redesigning core processes and systems. He has developed radical approaches to organisational transformation, which integrate the deeply personal dimensions of awareness and meaning with external performance drivers – including structure, process and measurement – with significant results.

Mr Rennie has led major change programs in banking, insurance, telecommunications, mining, energy, agriculture, heavy manufacturing, retail and professional services. This work has taken place in many countries around the world, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Taiwan, Australia, and South Africa. He is currently supporting clients across the Middle East, including in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

He has also worked closely with conglomerates and leading family-owned businesses in Mexico, Brazil, United States, and Australia over many years. Mr Rennie has a strong interest in government policy and community issues. He has led five major economic policy projects for three Australian prime ministers and was the long-time chairman of Inspire Foundation, Australia’s leading mental health service for youth. Prior to joining McKinsey, Mr Rennie was a lawyer.

He has Honours degrees in law and economics, studied languages and history in Switzerland, and has a Master's degree in arts from Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
